OVERVIEW:

As Gymshark’s Health and Safety Manager, you will ensure that our organisation meets the necessary legislative obligations and drive the continuous improvement of health and safety throughout the business. Facilitating the ongoing development of health and safety policies and practices to make sure all staff are adhering to these standards. The role provides advice, support and guidance at a Manager level on all matters of legal compliance regarding Health and Safety Management.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
  • Advise the Directors and Managers on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations
  • Will highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance and ensure that the necessary attendance / certification is in place
  • To monitor, update and maintain training records for all of the relevant departments and personal, ensuring attendance for courses with mandatory attendance
  • Will deploy H&S related elements of the People Strategy, facilitating effective implementation of new H&S initiatives in different departments and across all levels of the business
  • Has designated responsibility from the Director responsible for health and safety to control and update the Gymshark Safety Manual and to ensure that all Departments operate to the procedures and instructions contained there
  • Advises the Company Secretary of all incidents reportable under R.I.D.D.O.R
  • Liaises with the Facilities Manager to establish contractor health & safety polices & procedures
  • Is required to develop H&S MI, reporting on all people metrics as necessary, for example, DSE compliance, risk assessment completion, accident and near miss reporting.
  • Conducts health and safety inspections and prepare reports of all the company’s operations
  • Carries out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and to discover causes, record the findings on the relevant documentation. Also responsible for handling worker’s compensation claims
  • Conducts all “risk assessments” as required by legislation and are reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same across all GS sites
  • Attends such courses/seminars run by external sources to enable accurate interpretation of legislation to enable implementation within the organisation
  • Will be an ambassador for the function
  • Conducts/organises relevant health and safety training for staff as required, including first aid and fire safety
  • Generates employee communications documents, drafting factsheets, vlogs, policies and educating internal stakeholders on a variety of compliance issues
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
  • An industry recognised qualification such as the NCRQ or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is essential
  • Either hold or be close to obtaining Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH). For smaller organisations or less senior roles Graduate membership may be accepted (Grad IOSH)
  • Credible experience in health and safety, including operations experience
  • Prior experience in project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to work with, provide advice to, train, and promote excellence in Health and Safety all staff
  • Experience of maintaining or reaching externally audited management standards such as ISO 14001
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessments
  • IT literate and a comprehensive understanding of Windows based programmes to include Word, Excel and Outlook is essential.
  • Due to the role covering the health & safety for Gymshark UK, the post holder must have a current driving licence.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues, translating complex concepts into simple terms where required.
