HSQE Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

This role supports the Quality Manager in maintaining and developing the activities and processes aligned with the company Business Management System (BMS). The Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting the Quality Manager in ensuring that compliance activities are effectively conducted within the organisation.

Working with other business functions, the role of the Quality Engineer will include process improvement, process auditing, developing suppliers and ensuring product quality. Customers will be supported as and when required. The Quality Engineer will assist the Quality Manager in maintaining company certification to ISO 9001 (QMS), ISO 14001 (EMS) and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 (HSMS) standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage Goods Inward inspection processes for all incoming materials, parts and assemblies
  2. Create Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Faro Arm programmes, based on engineering drawings to measure and produce reports
  3. Train others in the use of the CMM/Faro Arm and put procedures in place to make this repeatable
  4. Participate and lead continuous improvement of Bowman process (including Lean Manufacturing)
  5. Investigate product quality related reports from customers, in house production & supply chain
  6. Document results/reports (including corrective and preventative actions) of Quality investigations, including Customer Complaints and Non-conformance (Process, Supplier or Audit findings)
  7. Conduct internal & supplier audits per the audit plan and as requested
  8. Work with suppliers to ensure implementation of agreed actions from audits/assessments
  9. Governance and sign off of Concessions and Production Permits
  10. Support Supply Chain team in improvement of supplied part quality
  11. Quality related investigations, analysis and reporting
  12. Represent Quality within New Product Introductions and Engineering Change and complete required planning and activities
  13. Creation of Quality documentation (incl. FAIR, PFMEA and control plans)
  14. Coordination of quality related project activities
  15. Maintain and update Bowman process documentation within the Business Management System
  16. Continually review compliance to Bowman processes and required standards and raise non-conformances where required
  17. Produce a variety of quality related statistical reports, performance measures and improvement actions
  18. Deal with day to day quality issues as they arise
  19. Conduct quality related training as necessary
  20. Support and develop business HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) processes
  21. Carry out other project or quality related tasks as required by the business

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Communication

Technical Ability

  • IT Literate – has excellent IT skills in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Demonstrable analytical skills – data into actionable outcomes
  • Degree Qualified (or equivalent experience) in technical discipline (Mech Eng preferred) with experience in a quality/engineering role
  • Experience in key problem solving and continuous improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of FAIR, PFEMAs, Process Quality Control Plan implementation
  • Experience of Computer measurement machinery and sampling plans
  • Auditing experience (internally and at suppliers)

Levels of Authority/Influence:

• Authorisation to stop any process/production if quality, safety or environment is deemed at immediate risk

• Responsible for Quality Measures and reporting

Levels of Budget/Resource

Contributes to QHSE Budgeting and business planning.
